Penny Droid Razr Sale- Black Friday One Cent Droid Razr Verizon Wireless

If we've been posting about the Droid Razr 4G a lot, it's because it's a really hot cell phone right now, one of the most popular smartphones on the market. Our first real sale offered the Droid Razr 4G on Verizon Wireless for only $111.11 on Veteran's Day. Many places were offering the Droid Razr for $299, with some suggested retail equipment prices as high as $799. After that sale, the price went up sharply to $199+. Well now Amazon Wireless is offering the Droid Razr as part of its one penny smartphone sale, for as low as one penny with activation on Verizon Wireless.

Still not convinced? Check out our Motorola Droid RAZR Review, with AOTS video.

Motorola Droid Razr Review on AOTS

The Motorola Droid Razr has been the hottest cell phone topic for the past few weeks.  We announced weeks ago that the Razr was returning in Droid form for Verizon Wireless, and since it was released on 11/11/11 it has remained the most talked about phone this month.

Of course with most every hot phone, G4's Attack of the Show has reviewed the Droid Razr on their show and ran down everything you need to know about the phone. They also give us a side by side speed comparison of the Droid Razr and the iPhone 4s.  Check out the full video review, as it's another good unbiased opinion of the phone that gives us the many great features of the phone along with a couple of things they would like to see improved.

The Droid Razr 4G for Verizon Wireless is Available Now!

The date is 11/11/11, and at 11:11 A.M. this morning it was the culmination of the clever marketing campaign by Verizon to unveil the all new Droid Razr 4G.  Last month we reported that the Razr was coming back as a droid phone, and now the phone is available after a ton of promotion from Verizon.

In the newest Droid Razr commercial below, it seems Verizon somehow found the 5 or so people in the entire country that still own the original Razr and went and gave them the Droid Razr....or at least that's what they want us to believe.  They main idea is that they took the slim  design of the old school Razr and have reinvented it with all the power of a smartphone.  The Droid Razr is the newest and hottest phone on the market, so we're sure you'll be hearing a ton more about this phone throughout the holiday season.

The Motorola Razr Returns in Droid Form

Droid Razr will once again innovate as it will be labeled "the world's thinnest smartphone" at 7.1 mm thick.  The phone will also feature a stainless-steel core, Gorilla Glass screen, and a splash guard that will even protect the inside of the phone.  The screen will be a 4.3 inch with HD resolution that will make for richer colors and higher contract than even the almighty iPhone 4s.  Motorola also added in that the Droid Razr will be the first device to download HD movies from Netflix.

This mega upgrade from the old days of the original Razr's is evident in each and every way.  The phone will even have the capability to save battery life by turning off features you may not be using at the time.  Finally they announced the Droid Razr's "most important feature," known as "MotoCast,"  which will allow users to stream content from their personal computers directly to their phones.

For now it appears that Verizon Wireless will be the first carrier to get the Droid Razr, but I'm sure if the popularity of the phone skyrockets we will see it offers by other carriers eventually as well.  Will the Droid Razr bring the Razr back to prominence and give the Apple iPhone a run for it's money?  It sounds like it's packed with features that will definitely grab some attention and at least make it at the very least a contender.

Carriers Will Soon Send Usage Alerts to Help Avoid Overage Charges

Have you ever experienced "bill shock?"  I really had not heard that term before today, but after reading the description I believe we have all experienced it at some point or another.  It's when you open a bill (your cell phone bill in this instance) and are shocked to see a huge amount that is way over your usual monthly cost.  This can occur when you don't realize you were over your allotted minutes, texts, or data for the month.  Unexpected charges for the extra usage can really make your bill sky rocket, but today the CTIA Wireless Association unveiled new guidelines that should help with the matter.

Carriers will now send usage alerts to customers when they are approaching their monthly limit on minutes, texts, data, international roaming etc.  Within the next 18 months cellular carriers should be adhering to these new guidelines, which should make a significant difference when it comes to unexpected overage charges or "bill shock."  Cell phone carriers have NO problem about notifying you 50 times if your bill is late, so it's nice to see that moves are being made to make just as much effort in helping customers manage their monthly billing as well.

The iPhone 4s is Now Available for ATT, Verizon, and Sprint

Well the big day if finally here for iPhone fans, the iPhone 4s is now available to AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint customers.  Now just because it's available doesn't mean you can get on easily, as preorder records were set and stores had lines outside in the early morning hours waiting to be the first to get the 4s.  There were even people across the country that camped outside of stores in order to ensure they would get one.  Was it worth all the effort?  Well let's take a look at what changes iPhone 4s is giving us.

While the iPhone 4s hasn't been regarded as a HUGE upgrade from the iPhone 4, but the fact that it will be available on 3 top carriers which means just about anyone can grab one.  *Note - If you are still having trouble finding where you can get an iPhone 4s, Amazon has them readily available at the link below:

Although there aren't a huge amount of changes, the iPhone 4s does offer a faster dual-core A5 chip and an 8 mega-pixel camera that can shoot 1080p HD video as well.  Those seem to be the 2 big differences in this new version of the iPhone, which may or may not be enough to make you want to buy one.  If you don't have an iPhone, or maybe haven't had a new one in a few years, this phone might be a good purchase.  If you own a more recent iPhone, it might not be enough to buy.

Some people are rushing to stores to try to grab the iPhone 4s, while others are waiting on the iPhone 5 in hopes of getting a major change.  Here is a good video which covers the changes you will find in the iPhone 4s, and may help you decide if you are on the fence on deciding if the time is right for an upgrade.

Sprint Samsung Conquer Video Review from Attack of the Show

Even though we have featured many smartphone reviews, we realized that we tend to mainly feature the smartphones available for ATT Wireless and Verizon Wireless.  Smartphones have become so popular and it seems like everyone has one, but just about every carrier offers a selection of smartphones.

Sprint is still one of the top cell phone carriers, and there are still smartphones made exclusively for Sprint customers.  Today we have a review for the Samsung Conquer, the latest 4G smartphone available for Sprint.  The Conquer is noticeably lighter than most cell phones, a textured back for a good grip, and has a 3.5" display which is the same as the iPhone 4. The phone looks like a great choice for Sprint customers looking for a smartphone.  And of course, once again we have located the lowest price available online, so you can get the Samsung Conquer for only a penny!

Below is the full video review of the Samsung Conquer for Sprint from Attack of the Show.

HTC Status Video Review from Attack of the Show

Earlier this month we reported that the HTC Status had made our list of top AT&T Wireless phones on Amazon, and a couple months ago we even reported on the lowest price online for the HTC Status.  Now the Status is holding it's ground as one of the top smartphones in the industry, especially for users who use their phones especially for social networking.

Attack of the Show on G4 provides some great unbiased phone reviews that give the good and bad qualities on any given phone.  In this video they review the HTC Status and back up a lot of what we've been saying about it.  They also demonstrate how the Facebook button works, which is a feature that is heavily pushed for the phone.  You can share virtually anything on your phone with the simple press of a button, and the button even lights up when it detects something you might want to share.

They do emphasize that the Status is the phone for you IF Facebook is the most important feature to you on a phone, but if not you may want to look for something else.  Check out the full AOTS review of the HTC Status below.

Top AT&T Wireless att.com Cell Phones at Amazon Wireless

AT&T Wireless Phones offered by Amazon Wireless: When it comes to online cell phone vendors, Amazon Wireless has really stepped up lately. We have taken notice of their offers when it comes to popular cell phones, especially those offered by ATT Wireless. We have posted on some of their deal before, such as the AT&T HTC Status. I thought I would share some more of the top AT&T deals currently available from Amazon Wireless. If you are looking to become a new AT&T customer or an existing customer looking for an att cell phone upgrade, Amazon Wireless offers some good deals.

1. Samsung Infuse 4G- I previously featured the Samsung Infuse 4G for ATT Wireless in a post back in May. It remains a great deal at Amazon Wireless.

2. Motorola Atrix 4G- Our Infuse post also mentioned some comparisons to the Atrix, which has favorable screen resolution.

3. Samsung Focus-

4. HTC Inspire 4G- In April, I posted about the HTC Inspire ATT Upgrade deal. The HTC Inspire 4G remains a great deal for existing or new AT&T Wireless customers.

ATT Wireless Removes A-List Calling Feature

It looks like AT&T is discontinuing A-List for new subscribers.

A-List was an AT&T Wireless plan feature that allowed users to specify numbers that would be eligible for unlimited calling. Customers could choose 5 numbers on individual plans or share 10 on a family plan. This is very similar to the Friends and Family option I have on my Verizon Wireless Family Share Plan

It appears A-List will still be available to current subscribers. AT&T recently removed all text messaging plans except for its $20 per month unlimited plan, and introduced Mobile to Mobile calling for subscribers of unlimited texts. It is obvious that ATT is continuing with the industry wide push of unlimited cell phone plans that include messaging and calling.

AT&T HTC Status Low Online Price

AT&T HTC Status- I Keep hearing/seeing an AT&T commercial for the HTC Status. The commercial touts the ability to post to facebook and some other features. Apparently you can buy the HTC Status for AT&T starting at less than 50 bucks in stores.

But guess what? This is a cell phone blog, and we focus on cell phone deals and AT&T Wireless Phones you can buy online-because most of the time, if you are looking for a new cell phone you can find it cheaper online. The AT&T HTC Status is no exception. Look what we found at Amazon Wireless, for example:

So you can buy the HTC Status online for as little as a penny. I did a little digging and have some good news for existing AT&T Wireless customers, too. Usually it's a little more expensive to get a cell phone upgrade, but the HTC Status is being offered for a penny to existing AT&T customers who are looking for a contract extension, as well.

AT&T Samsung Infuse 4G for ATT Wireless 4G Network

AT&T Samsung Infuse 4G review- I was just reading a good review of the Samsung Infuse 4G Offered on AT&T Wireless. The review is over on gigaom and gives a good overview of features. The review says it is $199, but you might just find it for less than that. I have seen it offered as low as $149. Prices are subject to change, but if you are interested you might want to see what it's going for:

According to the review at gigaom, The Samsung 4G has the largest display of any phone offered by AT&T. It's a "big and bold" android smartphone, that is still small enough to fit in your pocket because of it's thinness. They note that the Atrix 4G has a high screen resolution but the display on the Infuse might be even better. It's recommend as a great phone, as long as you want a bigger Android phone. att.com/infuse , Note: many visitors are coming here searching for att.com/infuse, just as others are looking for att.com/upgradenow or other att.com urls. This is not att.com or and att.com website.

This is a blog post about the Samsung Infuse for AT&T. If you are looking for att.com/infuse, that is a url you type in your browser, not something you search for. Please type att.com/infuse directly in your web browser and hit Enter so you can go to AT&T's website as you intended.

Our Most Popular Cell Phone Providers

Another month has passed us by, and we've read a lot of wireless industry news.

This is a fast developing technology, and changes are sure to come. However, some things tend to stay the same- at least for awhile. Our most popular cell phone providers for the month of April 2011, were ( in order from most to least popular): AT&T Mobility, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, and Sprint.

AT&T- At&t remains popular, with many customers looking to upgrade their old phones to new smartphones, and new customers coming on board as well. With the market saturation of this industry, we are finding many visitors/customers are already sold on their provider and just looking for new phones.

Popular AT&T phones include: HTC Freestyle phone, HTC Inspire 4G Android phone, Samsung Focus Windows phone, and Sony Ericsson Xperia 10X Android for AT&T.

Verizon- Remains popular and keeps coming out with new smartphones. In the next few years I believe one of the biggest battles in the wireless industry will be Verizon and ATT trying to keep their current customers from switching and trying attract their competitor's best customers.

Verizon's top phones this month included: Droid, Droid X, HTC Droid Incredible, and the HTC ThunderBolt.

T-Mobile- The pending merger with AT&T has not affected T-Mobile's business for the worse ( from what we can see). They continue to offer top phones, and right now they offer the cheapest unlimited phone plan.

Our most popular T-Mobile phone has been the Samsung Galaxy S 4G. Recently, we posted a short news story about the Samsung Galaxy lawsuit

Sprint- The HTC Hero Android Phone and Grey Samsung Intercept Android have been the most popular Sprint phones for us. So there you have them, the most popular cell phone plan providers and their most popular phones.

HTC Inspire Upgrade for Existing AT&T Customers

Recently there has been a lot of people searching for a free ATT HTC Inspire with upgrade, and it has become apparent that the Inspire is currently one of the hottest AT&T phones.  The Inspire has a ton of features that is making it such a popular phone, including a 4.3" WVGA Screen, Dolby Surround, 4G Speed, and a great social networking app just to name a few.

With virtually all phones these days being smartphones, the HTC had it's work cut out to stand out as a top Android phone.  From the HTC Sense for social networking, to the 8 mega-pixel camera with 720p camcorder for shooting HD video, the Inspire is packed with features.  While we haven't seen the phone for free just yet, we have seen it for $69.99 for upgrading customers and even less if for new customers.  The Inspire is a top notch Android phone and the low price is just one of the reasons it is currently one of AT&T's top selling phones.

Apple Suing Samsung Over Galaxy Handsets and Tablets

I think it's safe to say that there is an official craze across the nation for iPhones and now even iPads.

Apple has made innovations that have changed the cell phone industry, so it's no shock that other companies are going to try and replicate that success by releasing similar devices.  Apparently Apple isn't flattered by the imitation, and is actually suing Samsung over their Galaxy handsets and tablets.  Their lawsuit states: "Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple's technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products."

There was no doubt there would be alternates to the iPhone and iPad once they became so hugely successful but the question is, is the Samsung Galaxy series SO similar that it is a direct rip off of the Apple products?  From what we conclude there are some slight size and weight differences between the two, as well as some small details that are different, but we turn to our readers who may have used both phones.  Is the Samsung Galaxy a great alternative?  Or just another dressed up iPhone?

How to Buy an Unlocked Apple iPhone

We have recently received a ton of questions regarding AT&T upgrades, and many readers are asking how to get the best price on upgrading to an Apple iPhone, particularly an unlocked version.  Not too long ago, the term "unlocked" when it came to cell phones was a bad word.  The term usually meant someone somehow hacked into the phone and made it work with any carrier, even if the phone was specified for a particular carrier.

Now the cellular industry seems to be realizing the demand for unlocked phones and the freedom for customers to choose their own carrier.  In fact, unlocked iPhones are on sale at Amazon.com.  This is a very convenient way to get an iPhone without having to renew or extend a current contract.  It also makes it convenient if you ever need to switch carriers, as the unlocked iPhones have no logos or branding to one particular carrier.

While purchasing an iPhone can be expensive, buying an unlocked iPhone is a great way to ensure you get more use out of such an investment.  We recommend the Amazon listing below which shows the absolute lowest price available on unlocked Apple iPhones.

att.com/upgradenow

Att.com/upgradenow -I don't know what's going on, but a lot of traffic is coming to our main cell phone site looking for att.com/upgradenow.

I wonder is AT&T is running a television commercial or some other ad promoting AT&T cell phone upgrades for existing AT&T wireless customers. AT&T might be running a call to action ad with the att.com/upgradenow url.

Well, if anyone is looking for an ATT Upgrade for their cell phone, we have a vendor we recommend.

For AT&T Upgrades try: ATT Upgrade Now

Here's a tip if you aren't finding what you are looking for: If you see a commercial or some other ad with a domain or url to go to, just type that address into your browser. There is no need to go to Bing or Yahoo or Google and type in "att.com/upgradenow" for example. Just go to your address bar in your web browser, type in att.com/upgradenow and click enter. That should get you to the site you were looking for. The same applied to any other att.com web addresses you may see on tv or in ads. For example, if you want to go to att.com/infuse, then type att.com/infuse into your browser.

It's Official: The Verizon iPhone 4 is Coming

It's been almost 2 years since we reported on the negotiations to bring the Apple iPhone to Verizon.  Well now it is official, and the tech world is in a craze now that the iPhone will be available to Verizon customers on February 10, 2011.

Now that the news everyone has been buzzing about for 2 years is official, the next step is all the comparisons, arguments, complaints etc.  So far it looks like the Verizon iPhone will be pretty much the exact same phone that AT&T customers have, with virtually no changes/upgrades/differences.  In the physical phone there don't seem to be any changes out the gate, but many people have been hoping for another carrier to carry the iPhone all this time simply for the service.  The notorious dropped calls AT&T customers complain about is a major factor in possibly changing carriers.  Verizon seems ready to handle all the usage of iPhone users, whether they are current customers or customers switching from other carriers.

From our point of view, there are a ton of people out there who want the iPhone simply because its the cool phone to have, especially with younger people.  It will no doubt be all the rage with current Verizon customers who want the "new "in" phone."  No pricing has been announced yet, but we're guessing it will be in the same price range that the AT&T iPhone has always been, with some promotional deals no doubt going on to bring in buyers by the droves.  And another question, does anyone realize that once this initial craze is over, there will no doubt be a new version of the Verizon iPhone packed with all new features and Verizon content that will have everyone out going Verizon iPhone crazy all over again?

Are you a current Verizon customer?  Are you with another carrier looking to switch for the iPhone? Or are you happy with your current phone and have no interest in the iPhone craze?  Let the questions, comments, and arguments begin, and mark the date - February 10, 2011 - as your first chance to get a Verizon iPhone 4.
